Story
So this one started with an image. I’m part of a discord group called Become A Pro Composer that does these composer challenges where everyone writes music to the same prompt (image/video/words etc…). This time it was an image from the ISS: the aurora borealis from orbit, Earth curving below it, and just… darkness above.
I sat with it for a bit. There’s something about that perspective, seeing Earth from that far up, that’s just calming. All the noise disappears. I kept imagining the ISS slowly orbiting, and then that moment when the sunrise starts creeping over the edge of the planet and suddenly everything is illuminated. That quiet, enormous moment.
I’d just finished watching Project Hail Mary and was still kind of living inside its soundtrack, specifically those parts where it just vibes the wonder of being out there in space. So I sat down and started writing. Didn’t really overthink it. Just followed the feeling.
I think that’s probably the right approach for a track like this. Some things don’t need a plan. They just need the right image at the right time.
